Our Mission Statement
We testify, at The Good Shepherd Church of Bay City, that Jesus Christ is LORD, the only Son of the Most High; the Creator of the universe. Jesus Christ sustains life. (Psalm 41:3)
Jesus left His Heavenly throne, came to earth, born from a virgin woman, lived a blameless life of teaching, then died a painful, undeserving death on the cross as a sacrifice that took away our every sin. Jesus rose on the third day and now sits at His Father’s right hand. (Luke – all)
Only through, confession of our sin, accepting and believing in Jesus Christ, are we then saved and given eternal life. (John 3:16)
We believe the teaching of the Holy Spirit and all the gifts given by the Holy Spirit to the believers of Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 12)
Jesus will come again and take from the world His own. (1 John)
All Inspiration is from the Holy Bible

Church VisionTo Make Disciples...Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus came and told his disciples, "I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

A Proverb a Day Will Keep the Enemy Away...
Proverbs 28 1The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions. 2When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But with wise and knowledgeable leaders, there is stability. 3A poor person who oppresses the poor is like a pounding rain that destroys the crops. 4To reject the law is to praise the wicked; to obey the law is to fight them. 5Evil people don't understand justice, but those who follow the LORD understand completely. 6It is better to be poor and honest than rich and crooked. 7Young people who obey the law are wise; those who seek out worthless companions bring shame to their parents. 8A person who makes money by charging interest will lose it. It will end up in the hands of someone who is kind to the poor. 9The prayers of a person who ignores the law are despised. 10Those who lead the upright into sin will fall into their own trap, but the honest will inherit good things. 11Rich people picture themselves as wise, but their real poverty is evident to the poor. 12When the godly succeed, everyone is glad. When the wicked take charge, people go into hiding. 13People who cover over their sins will not prosper. But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy. 14Blessed are those who have a tender conscience, but the stubborn are headed for serious trouble. 15A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a lion or bear attacking them. 16Only a stupid prince will oppress his people, but a king will have a long reign if he hates dishonesty and bribes. 17A murderer's tormented conscience will drive him into the grave. Don't protect him! 18The honest will be rescued from harm, but those who are crooked will be destroyed. 19Hard workers have plenty of food; playing around brings poverty. 20The trustworthy will get a rich reward. But the person who wants to get rich quick will only get into trouble. 21Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for something as small as a piece of bread. 22A greedy person tries to get rich quick, but it only leads to poverty. 23In the end, people appreciate frankness more than flattery. 24Robbing your parents and then saying, "What's wrong with that?" is as serious as committing murder. 25Greed causes fighting; trusting the LORD leads to prosperity. 26Trusting oneself is foolish, but those who walk in wisdom are safe. 27Whoever gives to the poor will lack nothing. But a curse will come upon those who close their eyes to poverty. 28When the wicked take charge, people hide. When the wicked meet disaster, the godly multiply.
Commentary:[in the view of Paul & Cheri Zenker]
28:1 – Sometimes an offense will cause you feel as though so many people are out to get you or maybe sometimes it’s our own conscience. Whatever the case may be…it is just our feelings ruling us. We need to step up and brush it off and attack (a godly attack that is) the issue. Take it straight to the Lion…the Lion of Judah that is…Jesus Christ. Prayer, godly counsel, or just watch a stupid ridiculous no point movie. Ha ha…lighten up. It’s all good.
28:9 – Whether it’s the natural laws or the spiritual laws, God wants us to obey. If we are teaching the Word, we should be obeying it as well. If we teach what being humble is, we need to walk humbly, if we teach what love is, we need to give love, if we teach forgiveness…you get the idea! If we want the natural laws and the spiritual laws to work in our lives…remember one of our favorite (well at least mine) sayings… “You reap what you sow”. So your praying for ______________, but you continue ________________ ask yourself…what spiritual law am I ignoring?
28:18 – We will find ourselves in need of being rescued once or twice (in my case 10 or 100) well, we will find out we aren’t always who we say or what we want to be at all times, this is just a fact, get over it if you think differently. But what will ALWAYS be the case…is that you bring Jesus into the circumstance and truly listen to Him and keep truth as your buckler, His promise of keeping you from harm or getting you out of the harm you are in will happen. But…if you continue in being misleading, dishonest or deceiving, you will find yourself on a path of destruction…remember that’s a promise too!
28:26 – Bottom line…trust God, read His Wisdom, listen to His Word. Then apply it ALL to your life…He’s trusting in YOU! Show Him you can live by His Wisdom, not our foolishness.
